I am a graduating senior at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a passionate young adult in the global Mennonite church. As the North American AMIGOS representative on this trip, I am supporting the global analysis that is emerging among the youth of the United States. Our future in the church is linked to the future of the church globally. I think that this bicycle ride is an effective way to connect, comfort, challenge, and create. We aim to connect groups of young people across the country and the world to think about how they conceptualize church and the message of Jesus in their lives. We want to comfort each other in this time of joy and sorrow; being a young adult asking tough questions can make one feel very alone. We want to challenge the church to listen to our ideas and feelings as young people and critique some institutional practices. Most of all we want to create together the church that we want to see.
