Below is a list of gear that we recommended cycling participants to bring.
- Bicycle
o A bicycle that is suitable for touring and in reliable working condition
o Clipless pedals and cycling shoes
o Two large cycling water bottles
o Three Spare Tubes
o One spare tire*
o Spare set of brake pads*
- Clothes
o Two pairs cycling shorts
o One pair tights
o Two T-shirts/Bike Jerseys for riding (bright colors are better!)
o Shorts/Swimsuit
o One set of nicer clothes
o Lightweight Rain Jacket
o Light Fleece
o Camp Shoes/Sandals
o Sunglasses
o Cycling gloves
o Cycling shoes (strongly recommended)
o Cycling helmet
- Camping Gear (lightweight and packable is always better)
o Tent – connect with other riders about sharing
o Sleeping Bag – 2 or 3 season
o Sleeping Pad
o Plate, bowl & eating utensils
o Headlamp or flashlight
o Small Towel
o Personal Items – toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, sunscreen, chapstick, etc…
o Camera & Journal
A Support Team/Vehicle provided the following:
- Space to carry one medium (carry-on size) bag containing personal and camping gear
- Stove and cooking gear for the group
- First aid kit, sunscreen
- Bicycle pump and repair tools
- Spare Parts (participants pay replacement costs)
- Maps & Route Guides
*Only necessary if you’re riding a large portion of the ride
